ANNUAL BUDGET
Per Section 8.3 of the Village of Birch Run Charter, the Village Council adopts the annual budget for the next fiscal year at the first regular meeting in May each year. The Village’s fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 of the following year. As part of the budget adoption, the Village Council appropriates the money needed for municipal purposes and identifies the amount of tax levy upon real and personal property to support the municipal operations.

SPECIAL STREET MILLAGE
In 2010, Village voters passed a renewal of a ballot proposal which allows the levy of 1.5000 mills ($1.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable valuation) on the taxable value of real property located in the Village of Birch Run for eight years beginning with the 2011 tax levy year and running through the 2018 tax levy year. In 2018, Village voters renewed the same ballot proposal for an additional eight years running through the 2026 tax levy year. The purpose of this special tax levy is to improve and maintain the surface quality of major and local Village streets.
